Concise exists through Kevin's drive and vision to provide clarity and transparency within media trading agreements to the financial benefit of his clients. Kevin has over 20 years’ experience in media including positions at agencies, media owners and private media practices.
Previous roles include Managing Director of Rickards Media Services, where Kevin drove new business development for audit and consultancy services throughout all media as well as being responsible for the day-to-day management of the business. He has worked extensively in developing revolutionary deal management and audit systems with independent IT consultants and continues to do so at Concise.
Prior to Rickards, Kevin was Head of Commercial Finance at Channel 4 Television, where his responsibilities included contract and risk management as well as management of Channel 4’s Terms and Conditions of trade.
Kevin’s passion, drive, infectious enthusiasm and in-depth media trading knowledge lead the Concise ethos.
Jude joined Concise in early 2013 having previously worked at Rickards Media Services for nine years. She started as a Media Audit Assistant, working her way up to Media Audit Manager in charge of share audits across UK and Irish agencies. By the time she left Rickards she was Head of Audit and Operations, managing the entire audit operation and ensuring the delivery of share audit services to all clients.
A Business and Accounting graduate, Jude possesses a wealth of analytical skills, commercial media expertise and a fundamental understanding of the media operations at advertising agencies. She has developed audit programmes, managed clients and service delivery and implemented change.
Jude’s responsibilities at Concise include the day-to-day operational management of the business and providing our clients with everything they need, anticipating and delivering on new requirements and monitoring our fast moving industry.
Nick is a commercially aware Head of Audit with 15 years’ contract compliance experience in media and retail sectors. He has a natural aptitude for data interpretation and a passion for providing excellent client service.
Before joining Concise, Nick spent seven years working at Rickards, where he managed the delivery of audit reports to a blue chip client list within the media industry. He led teams throughout all major UK and Ireland agencies and took the lead in data modelling and analysis projects. Nick also more recently headed the continual development of the company’s proprietary management information system.
Prior to joining Rickards, Nick worked as a Purchase Audit Manager for business analytics and information services firm PRG Schultz from 1999-2007. Nick began his career working in Finance at Harrods and is a Business Studies graduate (majoring in Finance).
Siobhan has over 25 years’ experience in commercial finance within the media industry - predominantly in deal management and audit – and has worked at TV-am and Channel 4.
Siobhan’s skills also include contractual compliance, analytics and systems development, and her strong client relationship management skills have been honed whilst working as a consultant and running her own business since she left Channel 4 in 2008.
As part of the audit team, Siobhan conducts and assists on audits across all of Concise’s media owner clients. Her key responsibilities include data management and information monitoring on Concise Media databases as well as collation, analysis and evaluation of data and client liaison.
Andy is a well-known figure in the media industry having spent 20 years at Channel 4 from 1991-2011, setting up the sales department from scratch and revolutionising the channel’s airtime sales strategy by devising an innovative way of trading.
Initially joining as Head of Sales and Deputy Director of Advertising Sales and Marketing, Andy headed Channel 4's advertising sales operation from 1991, when the channel began selling its own airtime. He became Commercial Director in 1997 when he was also appointed to Channel 4's Board, one of only five executive directors. Andy was in sole charge of Channel 4's airtime, sponsorship and online sales departments from 1997-2011. In this time he delivered over £12bn of sales revenue to the company. Under Andy’s leadership the channel’s share of net advertising revenue progressed steadily from 18% in 1993 to a record high of 24.8% in 2010. Andy left Channel 4 in 2011 and set up his own consultancy business and joined the Board of Concise as a Director in June 2014 to explore new business opportunities with us.
Andy began his career at Southern Television in 1979 and worked for its successor TVS before becoming Sales Director at Laser Sales, the joint sales house formed by TVS and LWT, before he made the move to Channel 4. Andy has also previously been a Board member at BARB (Broadcasters' Audience Research Board), a member of the Advertising Association's Council, and Chairman of Thinkbox, the marketing body that represents commercial television companies, which he was instrumental in setting up.
Mark has been involved in the negotiation of large scale media contracts from both a sales and buying perspective for over 20 years. Initially cutting his teeth in television sales from 1986, he worked for a number of TV Contractors and Sales Houses negotiating and setting up large scale media deals with advertisers and agencies.
Mark then joined Aegis Media in 2004 as a member of their Trading Board, assisting the business in negotiating and restructuring buying contracts across all media in the UK and responsible for overhauling their Barter business. He also represented Aegis at OFCOM and the Competition Commission.
His knowledge and expertise in understanding of the complex nature of trading contracts is highly regarded in the media industry. Mark holds a degree in Applied Mathematics.
Paul (Barty) has a demonstrable track record in growing agency business and a wealth of commercial and client management experience gained from leading UK and International agencies.
At BLM and later Arena Media (Havas) as Chief Operating Officer, Barty was responsible for an agency of 150 staff from 2000-2012. Since leaving Havas in 2012, Barty has leveraged his extensive experience in Board level roles at M.I. Media and Prism Media Production. Barty started out in sales at ITV, switching to a buyer role at The Media Business in 1983 and moving on to MediaCom in 1998 and was a Board Director at these two hugely successful agencies.
Adept at developing business processes to maximise operational efficiency, Barty co-designed a business intelligence tool which mitigates the risk of investment in new digital services and provides valuable insight into operational costs. Barty brings these skills to Concise where he is available to consult on bespoke projects.
Kelly has 15 years’ experience in marketing and communications and has worked for large companies including Schroders and NEC Group, as well as smaller growing businesses. Kelly has successfully developed marketing strategies, shaped brands, built teams, launched new products and services, and managed many campaigns and projects.
Having set up her own consultancy business in 2010, Kelly now specialises in brand strategy, content development and communications. She regularly provides Concise with input on marketing and communications activities, helping us to tell our story whilst we get on with our day jobs.
Sam’s career has been spent in the broadcasting industry having previously worked at Digital-I since January 2011. During his time with Digital-I, Sam was instrumental in driving growth, both by increasing revenue from business and product development, as well as operationally by ensuring the team and infrastructure was in place to facilitate the work.
Sam was responsible for Quality Management at Digital-I and successfully gained the company’s ISO 9001 certification in 2016, as well as defining and implementing many continual improvement processes that helped the business improve its offering and become more streamlined, efficient and profitable.
Sam brings a new dimension of expertise to Concise. He will help to drive its strategic initiatives through the provision of additional services to existing clients as well as bringing new clients on board.
Merlin is a skilled advertising professional. He has spent 25 years bringing highly technical and ground-breaking optimisation systems to the media space that have moved the industry forward. Merlin spent 20 years at Channel 4 Television, most recently as Head of Portfolio and Airtime Management where he ran a team of 140 staff and trail blazed the systems integration for Channel 4’s TV and online trading platforms.
Merlin has a unique understanding of managing interfaces between frontline sales people and behind the scenes technicians. His attributes include developing the fully integrated Sales Transmission System, STELLAR, and building the first automated airtime deal management system.
Merlin also represented Channel 4 as a board member of BARB and Clearcast.
Andrew is an experienced Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser. Andrew brings his professional standards to Concise and has driven the business planning since day one using his experience of running a successful business. Andrew spent five years in audit before specialising in corporate tax, working for PLCs and large private companies across a wide sector of industries. His clients are now mostly owner managed businesses and he advises clients on every aspect of running their business’ finances: accountancy, audit, corporate taxes, personal taxes and payroll.
Having previously worked for Baker Tilly, he now runs an accountancy firm and splits his time between the Midlands and London.
Andy is a Chartered Accountant with a wide range of commercial and professional experience. Following qualification with a mid-size London firm, Andy was appointed partner at a Bristol practice specialising in forensic auditing and expert witness work. He then moved to commerce, initially as Operations Director for a large wholesale and distribution group and subsequently as Acquisitions Director for a division of a fast growing quoted PLC group.
Andy returned to professional services in 1993 as CEO and co-owner of Rickards Media, driving cross-media growth and developing the professional services offering until he sold his shareholding in 2012. For over 6 years Andy worked closely with Kevin, Jude and Nick, now the core team of Concise.
